am i really here...?
nimen hao ma? (how are yall?)
gosh, its good to hear from all of you and im stoked to know that you have taken time out of your day to spend on me...just wanted to let yall know how pumped i am that father has given me this opportunity and now my focus is not wasting the precious time that i have to pour out myself completely so that he might win some!! its hard communicating but its has gotten much easier over the past couple weeks...i can usually understand what the conversations that i hear are about, but cant hold much of one aside from introductions and greetings...i really love this language though and would not be oppossed to trying to learn it someday...i just have like 10000 more characters to learn! hilarious and awesome...
last week was a blast and not much different in content than the first three! stoked about leaving tomorrow morning at like 630 to head really far south(8 hours) to a town there...we will hopefully be staying there for the week and heading back on thursday to finish up the week with some whitewater rafting! heck yah...
this is an amazing place!! the people are as intrigued by us as we are by them...i hope that our smiles do more than evoke one in return...i hope they see our passion for something greater...hard sometimes to keep that outlook, but we have to hope in his power knowing that he doesnt need words to show his love...
im am feeling much better now most of the sickness is gone and i thank you for your prs in that area...
also, i heard today that a family friend david gilbert went home...tragic for his family and close friends...i ask that you would lift them up right now as you read this, knowing that He hears...this news tends to magnify the reality that life is both temporary and meaningful...if i knew the way it feels to lose a brother, i suppose i wouldnt try describing it...
thanks so much again for all your posts...they make me so happy at the end of the week!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
zack smith...you are so good at guitar/songwriting...are you kidding me...give me a cd...thanks also for your encouragement...everyone go to iamalden.com for some sick tunes and wisdom...
whitney...i dont know which one you are but i like both that i know...either cousin or white thank you so much for your post...i wish i could have been in nocona this past weekend...if its whitney weir than thank you so much for your thought and tell your sister that she is in troub. with me...if its whitney white that i really appreciate your post and it makes me happy that you would take the time to look at my blog...
mom...thanks for the post...and no im not disappointed about the non-post last week i just wanted to know how everything was going with yall...
julie anna...cant member if i responded to your post...but yes my hair is a bit more blonde than you left it and the chinese really seem to like it! thats good because i like them too...hope kk is treating you well and i want to hear about all your kiddos when you get back! thanks for being tight!
matt- bro im stoked to see you growing! you are so tight and i hope that this finds you deep in the sword and in constant conversation with father...in his presence is fullness of joy...heck yah!!!!
amber and jrod and drewbie...dangit i miss you like way more that i miss campo verde's or even my car...cant wait to chill out with you...
hoping that i would learn more of love and how to live it...i feel like 1 cor. 13 is pretty clear about its importance...its more important that knowing or trusting or giving...gosh...my pr for you all and me is that together we would learn how to pour out the love we have been given...its a hard pill to swallow when i substitute "jon" for the word "love" in that chapter and see how untrue it really is...its a good bit of free humiliation...
sorry about the length of this post...i told you before they wouldnt be so long...strug...
the greatest of these is love,
jon

d.o. and jon: (this is copied to both of you) i've been lifting yall up a lot this week... i can't help but think about last summer when i was in india. i get excited with each new post just to catch a glipse of something bigger than myself. it's sweet to have bros who can share with us just one more piece of someone else's reality. man, how i need those reminders of how big our dad is and yet how he still faithfully talks to me. live each day to the fullest and declare our dad's character... tonight at club, bill mcgee talked about how we can share about dad best through our difficulties and struggles rather than what we're good at, or the things we think we've got all together. use what you have, where you are... praise him for doing the rest. you guys are a blessing to me! yarpin it up in aggieland, brooke
hey buddy -- it was good to get an opportuntiy to check up on your updates...it is amazing here in Guatemala...i love the people and the culture...learing some espanol as well:) know that i am lifting you up for sure... and excited to hear stories when we finally get to meet again... i leave for my first trip tomorrow morning...we had orientation this past week and it was really refreshing...which was needed...anyways... i just wanted you to know that i am thinking about you! i am thankful to have you in my life... you are amazing!
jon- hey i just wanted to say hi and remind you that we are all lifting up our thoughts for you and your team and the folks you meet!!! I am so pumped to hear about what is going on over there, it makes me want to cry because i think it's so darn cool...you know, i get real excited about that kind of stuff! I am also really happy to hear that you got one of those sweet head massages!!! Was that not amazing...I definately did that too. why don't they do stuff like that here? ugh. Also, I hope you are taking lots and lots of pictures! If youre not, you should start b/c i want to see them. I bet you are good at using chopstix (kwai-zuh?)by now, those noodles can be tricky though...
Anyway, totally soak up these last few days...try to make the most of every opportunity, really take in the sights and sounds and even smells...you will want to remember them. Don't leave that place with regrets, know that every thing was planned perfectly before you could have ever imagined it. Awesome. yes He is.-chelsea o
So jon t- as i've been going on some crazy fun hikes with my fam this past week, we're in this place called Johnston Canyon in Canada and I see this really cute little old man...i'm not kidding you Jon, I think i saw exactly what you are going to look like in 50+ years! It was so funny! I got some really tight yarping in for you guys while we hiked to this really tight teahouse on the top of the mountain at Lake Louise...amazing. headed your way next wed! oh and i had to tell you, your stuff about r. 12 is crazy b/c that happens to be some memorizing time for me right now. so tight. keep it up, and finish strong! His, Kelly
hey jon! i've been thinking about you a lot and praying that God will use you as His tool in sharing with these people such an important message. i'm honored to call you family and want you to know that your determination and will to carry out God's plan for your life is something that is inspiring to all who know you. Keep up the good work and know that you are loved!! -cousin jenny-
press on jon....soak in all He has for you in these last few weeks/days. you're not dealing with temporal things and that my friend is thrilling. keep walking, allow him to increase as you continue to decrease. love those people like you've never loved before!
Jon-
your words of encouragement mean more to me than you probably realize, and definitely more than I can hope to express. i hope your week is going awesome.... got really bummed about not getting to go visit pa... but i also got to know a real sweet girl in that time... so i think pa would be cool with it, ha! it always amazed me how proud pa was of me no matter how bad i messed up. what an amazing man. if you want to see how to love just remember pa's face when he saw one of the girls or micah or gabe...
father's peace,
Matt
Jon David,
I spoke to Brenda Smith yesterday, and they are looking forward to the wedding July 16. Jenny has already finished some summer school. She is now taking a course over the internet. Since she has friends here, she may come visit us. They do not have internet at home.
I just saw Betty Tennison at her brother-in-law's funeral. She
tried to blog you, but failed. I
will try to call her and give her the steps again. She wants to write you.
Your dad is golfing again today.
He has a new club (#2Hybrid) that he bought with the gift certificate Jody gave him for Father's Day.
We are enjoying the summer. It is nice to sleep late and be home at few days.
How did you manage the long bus ride with your long legs? Over the
seat or straight out in a seat by yourself?
Bonnie leaves Saturday. They are coming tomorrow to stay the night with us. We are celebrating our 29th anniversary on Sunday. Next year Dad and I get to take a trip! We love you and miss you.
Mom and Dad
Jon,
Even tho I haven't posted regularly, I read every word that you write and every word that is written to you. I figure your list of people to shout out to has grown to an unmanageable number, so I don't want to add to that, just know that I pr for u every single day.
I especially thought of you on June 18 in Nocona...we sang happy bday to paw, I was wishing you were there with your killer strings leading the way...but I think paw knows where u are and what you're up to, and he would be proud and probably crack an inappropriate ethnic remark...just so u remember who ur dealing with!
I played golf with your dad yesterday...he misses you so, but he beams when he talks about you, and don't even get me started about your mother!
Do your thing Jon Tettleton and come home safely, at least for a minute before you go charging back out do what father sends you to do.
Unc Mike
